LOOK! More photos here: 2013 OWH Year in Pictures – Brynn Anderson
My first year at the Omaha World-Herald was highlighted with new faces, names, moments, communities and especially a new home. I’ve enjoyed every new experience, and being a part of a new community has been enlightening, humbling and thrilling.
In this image, I got to spend time with 3-day-old Emery Mary Catherine Cowardin and her family during a visit with nurse practitioner Sarah Miller. The result was this wonderful, intimate moment, which was one of my favorites in Omaha so far.
During the Miss Amazing Pageant I got to photograph girls being silly, dancing, swimming, singing and being themselves.
The whole weekend brought a smile to my face.
My grandpa would have loved this photo. He was in the Air Force, so Memorial Day always means a lot to me, and so do these moments that remind me of him.
Omaha Fashion Week was the coolest assignment I’ve had this year at The World-Herald. The fabric, color, hair and fashion were right up my wheelhouse of fun and interesting events to shoot.
I loved working with high school athletes like Alyssa Frauendorfer. I get to see them excel throughout the year in many sports, and then they shared their stories with me during photo shoots.
The most frightening image this year was being up in the catwalk of the CentruyLink Center covering the Nebraska state wrestling championships. It turned out to be OK in the end, but getting the shot sure was scary.
Hope you enjoyed the highlights of my first year at The World-Herald. I can’t wait to see what the future holds. Hope to see you next year!
