About Andrew Mattson

As a freelance video producer, I began to produce the "Big Red Today" show for the Omaha World-Herald in the fall of 2009. In the spring, I produced the "High Schools Today" show and a few promotional spots. I was hired full time in February 2011. I grew up in Omaha and earned my bachelor’s degree in English from Creighton University. I earned my MFA in film production from Chapman University in California. While in school, I began working professionally for an ad agency producing radio and television spots. I also began editing for "Street Tuner Challenge" and "Chop Cut Rebuild with Dan Woods," a pair of automotive themed television shows featured on Speed Network. I enjoy still photography as a hobby and have plenty of subject matter in my two kids. My time thus far with the paper has proven to be anything but ordinary. On any given day, surveillance video might be plopped on my desk, cell phone video of the Hamburg levee falling into the river is emailed to me or I might be out shooting an advertisement for a client. It can get a little crazy at times, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
